In a series of strategic moves to enhance leadership and continuity in Nigeria's public sector, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of four new Permanent Secretaries and the renewal of tenure for three serving ones, signaling a renewed push for meritocracy, transparency, and efficient service delivery across federal ministries. In a statement issued by Director of Information and Public Relations at the OHCSF, Eno Olotu, the appointments of the new Permanent Secretaries, is to fill critical vacancies through a rigorous and transparent selection process. The appointees are Warrens Bekearedebo Augusta from Bayelsa State, Jones-Nebo Nkiruka Bella from Enugu State, Aminu Sani Yargaya from Kano State, and Shoretire Ayinda Kamil from Ogun State. According to the statement, these professionals bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their roles, which will further strengthen public service delivery and support the government's development agenda. Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, congratulated the new appointees and praised President Tinubu's leadership. "These appointments reflect the Administration's dedication to fostering a competent and results-oriented Public Service that meets the needs of Nigerians," she said. She commended the President for his unwavering commitment to entrenching the principles of transparency, meritocracy, and professionalism in the Civil Service. Complementing these fresh appointments, President Tinubu also approved tenure renewals for three high-performing Permanent Secretaries in line with Public Service Rule (PSR) 020909. This rule allows an initial four-year term, extendable by another four years based on satisfactory performance. The renewed tenures are effective from April 27, 2026, mark their second and final terms for Ms. Kachallom Shangti Daju, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare; Beatrice Jedy-Agba, Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice; and Mary Ada Ogbe, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Development. Walson-Jack extended congratulations to the renewed officials, urging them to rise to the occasion. "View the renewed mandate as a call to heightened dedication and excellence in service delivery," she stated.
