Fani-Kayode to Germany, Omokri to Mexico: Tinubu approves postings of 65 'ambassadors' to foreign missions, UN

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors-designate - 31 career and 34 non-career diplomats - to various countries and the United Nations, the Presidency announced on Friday. The ambassadors-designate were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025. Among the non-career appointees are notable figures such as Senator Grace Bent to Togo, Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu to Israel, Mahmud Yakubu to Qatar, Reno Omokri to Mexico, and Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany. Other postings include Jerry Samuel Manwe to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and Joseph Sola Iji to Russia, the statement by Bayo Onanuga, presidential spokesperson said. Career diplomats appointed include Ambassadors Nwabiola Chukwumeka to Côte d'Ivoire, Monica Okwuchukwu Enebechi to São Tomé, Amb. Odumah Yvonne Ehinosen to Malabo, Amb. Romata Mohammed Omobolanle to Tanzania, and Amb. Luther Ogbomode Ayo-Kalata to Sierra Leone, among others. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received agrément from the United Kingdom for Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu and from France for Ambassador Ayo Oke, while requests for agréments for other envoys have been sent to the relevant countries in accordance with standard diplomatic procedures, the statement said. Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence induction programmes for all ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.
