The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, has accused Iran of sponsoring terrorist groups across several parts of the world, including activities that have affected Nigeria, warning that the country's pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a major threat to global security. Freeman made the remarks during an interview on ARISE News with journalist Oseni Rufai, a video of which was shared on X, where he spoke about the escalating tensions involving Iran and Israel. According to the Israeli envoy, Tehran remains the only country within the United Nations that openly expresses the desire to eliminate another sovereign state. "Iran is the only country in the United Nations that expresses the desire to wipe another country off the face of the earth," Freeman said. He further alleged that Iran has funded and supported militant groups across different regions in pursuit of that objective. "They have sponsored terror groups around the world. We have seen them acting in Lebanon, Australia, Europe and even Nigeria in order to spread disturbance and carry out their aim of destroying Israel." Freeman also claimed that Nigeria has previously felt the impact of activities linked to Iran-backed groups. "Nigeria has been on the receiving end of Iran's terrorism," he said, while warning that the threat posed by Tehran extends far beyond the Middle East. The envoy stressed that Israel would resist any attempt by Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, arguing that such a development would endanger regional and global stability. "We will not allow any country that expressly wants to destroy us have nuclear weapons," Freeman said. Source: https://thesun.ng/iran-has-sponsored-terror-groups-globally-israeli-envoy/
