The United States Embassy in Nigeria has rescheduled visa and consular appointments in Abuja amid concerns over possible protests in the Federal Capital Territory. In a notice shared on its official X account, the embassy said routine operations would remain suspended until Monday, March 9, 2026, as a precautionary measure due to the potential for demonstrations in the capital. According to the embassy, visa appointments originally scheduled for March 4 and March 5 have been moved to new dates next week. Appointments for American Citizen Services (ACS) initially planned for March 5 have also been rescheduled. The embassy advised affected visa applicants to check their email inboxes or log into their AVITS accounts to view their updated appointment dates. Similarly, applicants seeking ACS services were urged to monitor their email messages for details regarding their rescheduled appointments. It added that applicants who do not see a new appointment date should contact the consular section through the Visa Navigator platform for assistance. The embassy also urged the public to continue monitoring its official website and social media channels for further updates. "Due to the potential for protests in Abuja, the U.S. Embassy will be closed for routine business until Monday, March 9, 2026.
