Lagos NSCDC PRO Celebrates Birthday With Boys At Special Correctional Centre, Oregun

LAGOS - The Special Correctional Centre for boys at Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos last week Saturday, February 28, 2026 played host to the Pub­lic Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Corps Super­intendent Oluwaseun Abolurin. Abolurin, who was at the Centre with his family, friends and well- wishers to celebrate his birthday, was received by Mr Bashir Iyakpo, the Correctional Officer in charge of the facility. While at the Centre, the NSCDC spokesman shared his knowledge and experience on the consequences of crime, even as he told the inmates that the so­ciety expects the best behaviour from them after they had served their time and got their freedom eventually. The Director General of the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies of Nigeria, Dr Adekunle Aderemi, who was represented by his daughter, Favour Adekunle, delivered a captivating speech at the event targeted towards the renewal of the hope of the children at the centre. Ms Favour Adekunle told the boys that freedom does not guar­antee purpose, stressing, "One can find purpose in any environ­ment, including the Correction­al Centre for Boys and that may ignite the dramatic turnaround of such individuals as it were." Ms Adekunle also presented gifts to the boys at the centre to mark the birthday of the LSC­DC spokesman, Superintendent Abolurin. The lively event featured refreshing speeches, goodwill messages, prayers, praises and worship from guests, friends and family members of the LSCDC PRO to make his birthday re­markable. Abolurin thanked the guests, his friends and well wishers for attending the event, themed 'Ministry without building, hu­manity without party'. He charged birthday cele­brants to look in the direction of inmates of such correction centres across the country, or­phans and the abandoned in the society when planning such celebrations "to renew the hope of the hopeless amidst other benefits for the society." The event was witnessed by Abolurins, including is elder brother, DSC Oluwaseyitan Abolurin and family; the CSO Tetracore, Mr Remi; Evangelist Ronke Ayodeji, DSC Olufemi Thomas, Abbas Studio, Master Alhaj, and many others.
