The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has congratulated the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, describing him as an upright officer whose accomplishments within the Nigeria Police Force make him deserving of the position. According to a statement made available to Sunday PUNCH by the Oluwo's Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the monarch said Disu would sustain and improve effective policing in the country. Oba Akanbi expressed optimism that Disu would deliver reforms that would transform the police and enhance security, saying his readiness for state policing was a positive indication. The monarch added, "I have strong hope in his capacity to sustain and even improve the tempo of effective policing laid by his immediate predecessor, Kayode Egbetokun. He has started excellently well; I have strong hopes that his tenure will be characterised by monumental reforms and distinctive merits. "I urge security experts, stakeholders, and paramilitary agencies to collaborate with him, especially in improving the security architecture of Nigeria." He emphasised that his readiness for state policing would help tackle insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping, child trafficking, ritual killings, and other illicit acts plaguing the country.
