Breaking: Police rescue 4 abducted travelers in Oyo - Blueprint Newspapers Limited

Oyo state Police command on Friday March 6, 2026 said the four persons abducted by gunmen suspected to be bandits have been rescued. The command in a statement by its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, declared that the abducted persons were successfully rescued following a swift and coordinated security response. He stressed that the four victims were successfully rescued unhurt, and have regained their freedom, and have since been reunited with their families. The PPRO said, "Preliminary reports revealed that the armed hoodlums emerged from a nearby bush and blocked the road, intercepting a commercial bus travelling from Igbeti towards Kishi," adding, during the incident, four passengers were forcefully taken into the surrounding bush by the assailants." Insecurity which has spread to parts of Nigeria, has taken different dimension with police and other security agents regularly diversing means to curb the menace.
