The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has cleared the air over allegation of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate forgery against the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. This is coming on the heels of recent protest by youth and civil society groups in Lagos and Abuja who demanded an investigation into allegations of NYSC certificate forgery against Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, alleging discrepancies in his records. When INDEPENDENT approached the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Benjamin Hundeyin for reaction to the development, he said in a terse message that, "After an exhaustive investigation into the allegations, it has been established that there is no evidence whatsoever of forgery, alteration, falsification or unlawful production of the minister's NYSC certificate." He further noted that, the, "NYSC was contacted and it was verified that the certificate was duly issued by the corps to the minister. The allegations are therefore unfounded," he said. While protesters continue to call for his resignation to pave the way for investigation, some groups labeled the protests as "staged outrage" and argued that the NYSC documents had already been verified.
