Mechanised agric: Abia ready to partner NAMCON - Otti

Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has said the state is open for business for serious minded entrepreneurs and investors, who will drive the state to sustainable economic growth and development through a private sector-led economy. He stated this in Umuahia, the state capital, during the maiden business roundtable organised by the state Public Private Partnerships and Investments Promotion (PPP & IP) Office with the theme: 'Vision Meets Enterprise'. Otti assured that the state would partner the Nationwide Agricultural Mechanisation Company of Nigeria Limited (NAMCON) to expand mechanised agriculture, boost food production and create employment opportunities across the state The governor, in his speech titled: 'Opportunities, Partnership and Prosperity', said the business roundtable was part of the intentional efforts of his administration to strengthen collaboration between government and the private sector. Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribeole, said the business roundtable was not just ceremonial but designed to bring dialogue between government and the private sector to drive economic transformation in the state. The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the PPP & IP Office, Chinedu Chijioke, business roundtable was organised to hear directly from stakeholders and investors. The Director of Kojo Motors Nigeria, Mr. Chukwudolu Umeobi, who represented the Chery automobile brand at the event, said the company is interested in partnering with the Abia State Government under a PPP arrangement to invest in the assembling of electric vehicles in the state. The National Team Leader of the Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE), Ifeanyi Ugwuoke, emphasised the importance of climate change mitigation and adaptation. Meanwhile, Otti also announced plans by the state government to partner the NAMCON to expand mechanised agriculture, boost food production and create employment opportunities across the state.
