President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended oil magnate and philanthropist, Sir Emeka Offor, for supporting medical education in Nigeria through the distribution of books and journals to tertiary health institutions across the country. The President's commendation followed a special medical book distribution programme facilitated by the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation in response to a request from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. According to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the foundation procured and shipped ten 40-foot containers of current medical and nursing books and journals from the United States to Nigeria. The educational resources, the Presidency said, are scheduled for distribution to tertiary medical institutions drawn from all six geopolitical zones of the country. President Tinubu noted that the initiative would strengthen healthcare education and academic capacity in Nigerian institutions, particularly in the training of medical and nursing professionals. He said the intervention by the foundation demonstrates the critical role of private sector philanthropy in supporting national development, especially in key sectors such as education and healthcare.
