COAS Seeks Stronger Military Education Partnership With US Defence University

By Chimezie Godfrey The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army's commitment to strengthening professional military education through collaboration with international defence institutions. Shaibu stated this on Thursday while receiving a delegation from the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) Nigeria Programme at Army Headquarters, Abuja. According to him, professional military education remains essential for building a modern fighting force capable of addressing emerging security threats. "Professional military education remains a cornerstone in building a modern and adaptive fighting force capable of confronting the myriad of security challenges confronting the nation," he said. The army chief added that participation in specialised training and international academic programmes would improve defence management practices and strengthen institutional knowledge. Earlier, the delegation leader, Miguel Casteyanoss, said DSCU's partnership with the Nigerian Army focuses on building institutional capacity and strengthening defence governance systems. He said the university also supports partner nations through specialised courses and advisory services aimed at improving logistics management and policy development.
