Nigerian singer, Paul Okoye popularly known as Rudeboy has dismissed online reports claiming that a woman who previously accused him of misconduct was sentenced to seven years in prison. The claim spread quickly on X after posts alleged that a court in Lagos had convicted the accuser and handed down the term. Screenshots and reposts pushed the story across timelines, with many users reacting before any official confirmation. Rudeboy reacted directly on his verified account and wrote, "Very fake news." In another post, he added, "I hardly reply!!! But you see this one!!!" making it clear he was addressing the circulating claim and rejecting it. The matter traces back to earlier allegations made against the artiste, which led to legal action from his side. He denied the accusations at the time and said the issue would be handled through the courts. Proceedings followed, but there is no public record confirming any judgment that reflects the seven-year sentence being shared online. Under the legal system in Nigeria, penalties linked to defamation or related cyber issues typically do not match the lengthy prison term being claimed online. Members of P-Square and those around them have often been caught in online rumours that spread fast before facts emerge. For now, Rudeboy maintains that the sentencing claim is false, and no official court statement has backed it up.
