A group, City Boy Movement has taken a major step towards strengthening women's participation in politics by approving the full structure of its women wing. A statement by the director of Media and Communications, Office of the National Women Leader, City Boy Movement, Dr. Sarah Umahi, said the resolution was part of the outcome of a strategic meeting held on March 4, 2025, at the Campaign Secretariat. The meeting, attended by patron of the movement, Barr. Seyi Tinubu, and the director-general, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, brought together key stakeholders to discuss how women could become the backbone of grassroots political mobilisation across Nigeria. Leaders at the gathering acknowledged that women remained the true drivers of political change at the community level, and therefore resolved to establish a robust women wing structure that will operate at the national, state, and local government levels, ensuring that no woman is left behind in the movement's mission. Among resolutions at the meeting is that the Office of the National Woman Leader will now be fully established to coordinate women-focused programmes and initiatives across the country. Another is strategic engagement with young women, female entrepreneurs, market women, religious leaders, and professional women who are ready to contribute meaningfully to national development. In a show of strong support for the initiative, Barr. Tinubu approved the handover of two 18-seater buses to the women wing, to support the movement's outreach efforts and help take the message of political participation to women across communities nationwide. The national women leader of the movement, Ummusalma Rabiu commended Barr. Tinubu for his vision and commitment to expanding opportunities for women in leadership and grassroots engagement. Rabiu further assured that her office would build a women wing that is professional, organised, and ready to deliver impact, prioritise women's needs, and also utilise the immense power of women in shaping political outcomes The meeting was also attended by the national coordinator of the movement, Hon. Favour Abayomi; the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, deputy national woman leader, Sophie Uzodimma; director of Media and Communications, Office of the National Woman leader, among other senior officials of the movement.
