The National Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdur Rahman Ahmad, has urged Muslims to reconnect with Allah and live intentionally, as Temple HQ hosted the fifth annual Sound Sultan Ramadan Lecture in Lagos. The event, held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Temple HQ, Saka Tinubu, Victoria Island, honoured the late music icon, Abdulganiy Olanrewaju Fasasi, famously known as Sound Sultan. Organised under the leadership of Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe, Chief Executive Officer of Temple Company and Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the gathering brought together creatives, public officials, family members, and friends. Delivering an extensive lecture, Sheikh Ahmad warned against what he described as the growing culture of distraction. "On a daily basis, we are distracted by noise, by the pursuit of wealth, by fame, by social media, and by endless entertainment," he said. "If we are not careful, we will be busy but not purposeful. Allah did not create us to chase shadows; He created us to worship Him and to serve humanity." He stressed that worship extends beyond rituals to character and conduct. "When your talent uplifts society, it is worship. When your profession is guided by integrity, it is worship. But when ambition replaces consciousness of Allah, that ambition becomes a veil." According to him, Ramadan is a season of recalibration. "Your eyes, ears, and heart will testify about how you used them. Every moment is an amanah (trust). Begin each day with intention. Ask yourself how you will please Allah before asking how you will impress people." He described the five daily prayers as "spiritual reset buttons" that restore focus and humility. "Salah reminds the celebrity and the commoner that they stand equal before their Lord. It breaks arrogance and nurtures gratitude." As the lecture transitioned into Iftar, guests ended their fast and observed Maghrib prayer on the premises. Among those who paid tribute was Nollywood actor, Lateef Adedimeji, who expressed deep gratitude for attending. "I am happy to be here this year, especially in the blessed month of Ramadan. We are here to remember our dear brother. He lived as a Muslim and died as a Muslim," he said. Another actor, Tobi Bakri, described him as "a humble role model," while Lateef Adedimeji said the gathering strengthened his spiritual resolve. Speaking for the family, Hajia Muhibat Oluwatoyin Fasasi expressed gratitude to Temple HQ for sustaining the annual remembrance. The evening blended remembrance with renewal, celebrating Sound Sultan's humility and faith while calling the living to a more conscious relationship with their Creator.
