Federal High Court announces 2026 Easter vacation - Blueprint Newspapers Limited

The Federal High Court of Nigeria Friday announced its 2026 Easter Vacation and the Roster for Vacation Judges. This, according to a statement by the Director, Information Federal High Court of Nigeria Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher was contained in a circular issued and signed by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho. The Court according to the CJ's circular shall proceed on its Easter Vacation for the year 2026 from Tuesday, 7 April 2026 to Monday, 13 April 2026. Meanwhile, some judges have been designated to serve as vacation judges. While Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite and Hon. Justice Musa S. Liman shall operate as Vacation Judges in Abuja Division, Hon. Justice Akintayo Aluko and Hon. Justice Ogazi F. Nkemakonam would be Vacation Judges in the Lagos Division. Others are Hon. Justice Phoebe M. Ayua and Hon. Justice Adamu T. Mohammed and Hon. Justice Mabel T. Segun-Bello, who would be operating in the Portharcourt and Enugu Division respectively. The Vacation Judges and Heads of Divisions are advised, as usual, to promptly refer to the Honourable Chief Judge any matter requiring His Lordship's urgent attention and directives. It reads in part: "This is pursuant to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended). "The Court shall resume normal sittings on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, in all Judicial Divisions. "During the vacation period, the Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Enugu core Judicial Divisions shall remain open to the public strictly for matters of extreme urgency. "It should be noted that only matters relating to the enforcement of Fundamental Rights; arrest or release of vessels; and matters concerning dire national interest shall be entertained by the Vacation Judges during the period."
