Prophet Dr Anene Nwachukwu, the Founder and General Overseer of Rhema Deliverance International Ministry, clocked 53 penultimate and chose a low key celebration in line with the mood of the nation. He, however, spared some moments to speak with select journalists on some aspects of his life, ministry and the State of the Nation, particularly the 2027 general elections. EJIKEME OMENAZU brings an excerpt: Could you please introduce yourself to our readers? I am Prophet Dr Anene Nwachukwu, the General Overseer of Rhema Deliverance International Mission. I was born on February 24, 1973. I am the second son of Bishop Dr Arthur Nwachukwu. My father had six children, five males, one female. By the grace of God, we are all ministers of God today. How does it feel to reach this milestone birthday and what reflections do you have on your journey so far? I appreciate God for His goodness, mercy and love in my life. Many of my colleagues have either died or been unsuccessful. There was a friend of mine who was supposed to be at this gathering today. Unfortunately, he died last Thursday. I give God the glory for preserving my life. Why did you choose to celebrate your 53rd birthday in low-key? I don't normally celebrate my birthday every year, like my biological father who always celebrates his birthday every five years. When I celebrated my 50th birthday, many governors, and National Assembly members and the Who's Who in the country graced the occasion. This one, many prominent Nigerians were planning to come. But, I told them not to. This time, I prefer to celebrate with my members only. All the people you saw today are my Church members. Could you shed light on your early beginning in the Ministry? When I started in the Ministry many people did not believe in me. My story was like that of Apostle Paul as narrated in Act 28:1. Paul was bitten by a serpent. People expected him to die because they thought that only a sinner could be bitten by a serpent. But, he did not die. When you are passing through challenges, people will look down on you. When God gives you a vision, He will give you provisions to fulfill the vision. I just kept my focus on Christ who called me. I told you that many dignitaries had wanted to come, but I told them not to. I believe in celebrating with my members. I believe in raising men. I don't have a fat bank account, but I don't lack. I have men I have raised. I can call any of my pastors and tell him that I need this or that and he will give me. It is an order. It is by grace. It is not by my power. Look at this pastor. He is from Togo. I was in his church. After a crusade, be packed with all the money to give me. I refused. My crusade is for people to come to Christ, not for money. My father told me that the more I am blessed, the more humble I should become. I must tell you that I am a successful man. Those who were mocking me when I started are now looking up to me for their survival. I give God the glory. Today, I don't need anybody to tell me that I am making waves. My programmes in and outside Nigeria are always jam packed by people. Be it in Sokoto, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Togo, America, among others, my crusades are always jam packed. It is not my power, it is by grace. God has been so kind to me. What is your advice to up and coming pastors? They are to be true to their callings. Make sure you face your calling squarely. Be totally surrendered to God. Never take the grace of God lightly. God is the only miracle worker. Always return the glory to God. Don't copy other ministers of God. Ensure the Word of God is your meditation day and night. Above all, obey God at all costs. What is the role of the Holy Spirit in your Ministry? No Church can stand without the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself was helped by the Holy Spirit at every stage of His life. He returned in the power of the Holy Spirit after 40 days of fasting (Matt 4:1). Jesus cannot do anything without the Holy Spirit. He said I can do nothing as I hear I judge (John 5 30). In Rhema Deliverance International Mission, the Holy Spirit is our guide and our comforter. In our services we always call down the power of the Holy Spirit through our worship and praise. Flesh profits nothing. It is the Holy Spirit that quickens our mortal body. Jesus said: "The Word that I speak, they are life and Spirit" (John 6:63. Do you have role models or mentors in ministry? I have no mentor or role model other than my father, Bishop Dr Arthur Nwachukwu. The only one I can call my role model is Archbishop Benson Idahosa, who was my father's spiritual father. He was the one that ordained me and my father. What is your life mantra or guiding principle? I live by the Word of God. In Him I have my being. My favourite scripture is Ecc.12:13: "Fear God and keep His commandments." The 2027 elections are around the corner. What is your counsel to Nigerians? Nigeria does not have leaders. Great leaders are thinking of the next generation, while politicians are always thinking about the next election. Why should politicians refuse the electronic transmission of results? Everything smells of a hidden agenda. It is a scam. It is through manual transmission of results that rigging can be perfected. Why are they afraid of electronic transmission of results from the polling booths? There is great agitation in Nigeria now. The 2027 elections will shock Nigerians. I say it prophetically, God will secure Nigeria. Any electoral officer who refuses to upload from the polling booth will be endangering his or her life. I prophesy that God will bring good leaders who will hear the cry of the people in 2027.
