Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said no individual or group can take away his constitutional right to visit any part of Nigeria. Naija News reports that Peter Obi, while speaking in Awka, the Anambra State capital, where he officially registered with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said every citizen has the constitutional right to move freely across the country. The former Governor of Anambra State recalled travelling to Rivers State despite warnings advising him not to visit, explaining that he honoured a prior invitation shortly after escaping an assassination attempt in Benin. He said, "I am a Nigerian and I am free to go to any part of this country. It is a constitutional right that nobody can take away from me." Peter Obi also reiterated his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the ADC platform, saying he remained committed to participating in the democratic process. According to him, the country needs reforms that will create opportunities for citizens and strengthen institutions. He stated, "I'm not desperate to be the President of Nigeria, but I'm determined to see Nigeria work. "We want a country where the son of a nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody." Speaking further, Peter Obi explained that his decision to leave the Labour Party (LP) for the ADC stemmed from internal leadership disputes within the party and concerns about the handling of court judgments related to the matter. He said the developments influenced his decision to move to another platform ahead of the next electoral cycle.
