Power Outage In Kogi, Environs As TCN Announces Maintenance Of Transmission Substation

The company said the maintenance work is scheduled to take place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a temporary power outage in parts of Lokoja and surrounding communities in Kogi State due to ongoing maintenance at its transmission substation in the area. In a notice issued on Saturday, signed by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager, Public Affairs, the company said its maintenance crew was carrying out scheduled preventive maintenance on several power transformers at the Lokoja Transmission Substation. According to TCN, the exercise involves maintenance on the 150MVA, 330/132/33kV transformer and the 60MVA, 132/33kV transformers located at the 330/132/33kV Lokoja Transmission Substation. The company said the maintenance work is scheduled to take place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026. "As a result of this exercise, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to off-take electricity for distribution to some of its customers within the affected areas," the statement said. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is responsible for distributing electricity to customers in the affected locations. TCN listed the areas expected to experience temporary power disruption to include the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja, Specialist Hospital, Government Reserved Area (GRA), Kabba, the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State Polytechnic, Zango, Kaduna Junction and other neighbouring communities. The company explained that the maintenance exercise is part of efforts to ensure the efficient operation of transmission infrastructure and improve the reliability of power supply. "Power supply will be restored immediately the maintenance work is completed," the notice stated. TCN also apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause.
