Nigeria: All 65 ambassadors and their countries of deployment - Blueprint Newspapers Limited

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors, comprising 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career envoys, to Nigerian missions across the world and the United Nations, in a sweeping diplomatic posting aimed at strengthening Nigeria's global engagement. The ambassadors-designate had earlier been confirmed by the Senate in December 2025, paving the way for their official assignments to strategic countries and international organisations. Among the prominent non-career appointments are former chairman of former chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Mahmood Yakubu who has been posted to Qatar and former Minister of Interior Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd) has been deployed to China. Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has been posted to Mexico, while former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode will serve as Nigeria's ambassador to Germany while former Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas heads to the Philippines. Former presidential aide and diplomat Ita Enang will represent Nigeria in South Africa, while former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Lateef Kayode Are, has been posted to the United States. Also on the list is businessman and politician Jimoh Ibrahim who will represent Nigeria as Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Former Health Minister Prof. Isaac Folorunso Adewole has been assigned to Canada, while former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro, will head Nigeria's mission to Australia. Other notable postings include Senator Grace Bent to Togo, Barrister Chioma Priscilla Ohakim to Poland, and Senator Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut to South Korea. Former Oyo State First Lady Fatima Florence Ajimobi has been posted to Austria, while Lola Akande will represent Nigeria in Sweden. Similarly, Yakubu N. Gambo will serve as Nigeria's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, while Ambassador Joseph Sola Iji will represent the country in Russia. Other non-career envoys include Victor Ikpeazu to Spain, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu to Israel, Paul Oga Adikwu to the Vatican, Abasi Braimah to Hungary, Angela Adebayo to Portugal, Oluwayimika Olumilua to Japan, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Greece, Muhammed Ubandoma Aliyu to Argentina, Kulu Haruna Abubakar to Tunisia, and Jerry Samuel Manwe to Trinidad and Tobago. Tasiu Musa Maigari will serve in The Gambia, while Barrister Onueze Chukwujika Joe Okocha has been posted to Ireland. In the career category, Ambassador Mohammed Mahmud Lele has been posted to Algeria, while Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno will represent Nigeria in Egypt. Ambassador Abdussalam Habu Zayyad heads to Senegal, while Ambassador Shehu Ilu Barde has been posted to Ghana. Other career diplomats include Ambassador Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia, Ambassador Bako Adamu Umar to Morocco, Ambassador Haidara Mohammed Idris to the Netherlands, and Ambassador Segun Ige to Lebanon. Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru will serve in India, while Ambassador Ibrahim Danlami has been assigned to Kenya. Ambassador Wahab Adekola Akande has been posted to Switzerland, while Ambassador Adebayo Emmanuel Ayeni will head Nigeria's mission to Belgium. Other postings include Ambassador Monica Okwuchukwu Enebeli to São Tomé and Príncipe, Ambassador Endoni Syndoph Paebi to Burkina Faso, Ambassador Geoffrey Chima David to Mali and Ambassador Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah to Equatorial Guinea. Ambassador Ruben Abimbola Samuel has been posted to Italy, while Ambassador Ogechukwu Kingsley Onaga will serve in Mozambique. Ambassador Magaji Umar will represent Nigeria in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while Ambassador Romata Mohammed Omobolanle has been posted to Tanzania. Ambassador Shaga John Shamah will serve in Botswana, while Ambassador Hamza Mohammed Salau will head Nigeria's mission in Iran. Ambassador Ibrahim Adeola Mopelola has been assigned to Benin Republic, while Ambassador Esther Arewa will serve in Namibia. Ambassador Joseph John Gergadi will represent Nigeria in Gabon, while Ambassador Luther Ogbomode Ayo-Kalata has been posted to Sierra Leone. Ambassador Danladi Yakubu Nyaku will serve in Sudan, Bello Dogon-Daji Haliru will head Nigeria's mission to Thailand, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom while Ambassador Ayodele Oke will server as Nigeria's envoy to France. According to the presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally communicated the nominations of the remaining 62 ambassadors to their respective host countries and requested agrément in line with established diplomatic protocols. President Tinubu has also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence induction programmes for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their assumption of duties. The postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria's diplomatic footprint and deepen bilateral relations with strategic partners across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East.
