Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, said her relationships with people who do not know God do not last long. She also shared that in almost 40 years of marriage to President Bola Tinubu, they have rarely raised their voices at each other. The First Lady spoke on Thursday while hosting an Interfaith Breaking of Fast, which brought together Iftar and Lent, at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Christian and Muslim leaders, wives of state governors, female lawmakers, ministers, and other prominent women attended the event. Oluremi Tinubu used the occasion to call for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. "Today, as I said, is indeed a great day. It is a day that God only made for us to gather together, and for women, first, from different backgrounds," she said. She noted that the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season presented an opportunity for unity. "Since the Ramadan fast was announced, and the Lenten season began together, it was like God was speaking to us as a nation," she added. Drawing from her nearly four-decade marriage to President Bola Tinubu, a Muslim, the First Lady said religious differences should not divide Nigerians. She further stated, "Some of us are married to men of different faiths, and we have lived together among us for many years. Me, almost 40 years. "And I can tell you, I cannot remember when both of us raised our voices at each other. Maybe not more than twice in the 40 years, I can tell you that. So we've been quite mature and respectful about that." She stressed that mutual respect and maturity were key to peaceful coexistence. The First Lady urged Nigerians to cultivate the fear of God, saying it is essential for building trust and integrity in society. Oluremi stated, "We as Christians have a form of entitlement. Because we have Christ, we feel our grace is sufficient... But you cannot live without having a fear of God. "The Bible says, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. I will deal with anybody in the country with the fear of God." She also called on women to serve as role models and mentors for younger generations.
